Vancouver’s most historic hotel is to be run by new five-star management. The legendary Hotel Georgia is now in the hands of one of North America’s specialist property developers, Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, which aims to restore the property to its former glory.
Currently undergoing full redevelopment the renamed Rosewood Hotel Georgia is scheduled to reopen in early 2011.
The property will feature 154 guest rooms, including large suites, a residential tower to be completed in 2012, as well as all the fitness and pamper facilities expected in a prestigious luxury hotel.
First opened in 1927, the Rosewood Hotel Georgia, came to be known as Vancouver's most historic and elegant hotel. The Georgian Revival structure welcomed the who's who of the entertainment world, including Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole, Katherine Hepburn and British Royalty. The building and many portions of the interior are designated as a protected heritage property by the City of Vancouver.
Rosewood aims to attract the equivalent star-studded clientele once the landmark building is "spectacularly restored".
