Vancouver's downtown office vacancy rate was squeezed down to a near record low in the first quarter of 2008 and some rents to new highs, according to one assessment, although the overall downtown rent picture may have stabilized, The Vancouver Sun writes.
The paper is quoting Colliers International's first-quarter report, which estimated downtown office vacancy of two per cent, the lowest since 1981 when vacancy hit 1.8 per cent. Across Metro Vancouver, Colliers estimated vacancy at 4.2 per cent, compared with the all-time low two per cent, which was again in 1981.
