Riverdale and the newer Terra Nova neighbourhoods are surrounded by water on the west and north. Thanks to the proximity of the North Shore Mountains, the Fraser River and the Georgia Strait, these neighbourhoods are perfect both for young active people and families. 

No. 1 Road North Drainage Pump Station

The city is below the high-tide level, and only one metre above sea level. To get the threat of flooding under control, the city's founders built a series of embankments with 41 pump stations around the city. A team from Opus DaytonKnight, led by Gurjit Sangha and Simon Kras, was upgrading the No. 1 Road North Drainage Pump Station.

The Richmond Olympic Oval was originally constructed as a skating rink for the 2010 Winter Olympics.The oval was later reconfigured to serve as a community multi-sport park, with two running tracks and ice hockey rinks, a rowing tank, a climbing wall and one flexible area.

With more than a half residents being immigrant, Richmond is one of the most populated places in the province. No wonder churches offer masses in various languages. For instance, Canadian Martyrs Parish is the only Catholic Curch in Richmond, where masses are offered in Mandarin and Cantonese.

Terra Nova Rural Park is a nature park with a community garden, historic buildings and a picnic area. In the park, several agricultural projects are run, such as Community Garden, or Terra Nova School Yard. The park is home to various animals, and has especially good habitat for numerous birds species.

In Community Garden you can find several projects going on. One of them is the Vancouver Fruit Tree Project. They work as volunteers, harvest extra fruit and redistribute it to community centres, daycares, and other community groups.

The Red Barn is located at Terra Nova Rural Park, 2631 Westminster Highway. It has a new kitchen, public washrooms, and serves as a gathering place. Although it's officially called "Terra Nova Rural Park Farm Centre," people use to call it simply – "The Barn."

West Dyke Trail is one of the most popular of Richmond Trails. On this trail one will find amazing scenes of the ocean and the North Shore, panoramic views to the Coastal Mountains and the airport.

Kevin Eng

Kevin's passion for photography has encouraged others to see the splendor and beauty of nature right at their doorstep, as he captures the sights of the day, and colors and mystery of world while it sleeps. Many of the subjects of his work are based locally in his hometown in Vancouver, B.C., where he first discovered his fascination with night photography. Kevin is currently working as a music teacher, music director for his church, and landscape photographer.
