Vancouver’s 125th anniversary celebrations will continue through July. Events and initiatives are covered by the year-long Vancouver 125 program. Vancouver 125 was designed to not only enable various cultural and artistic organizations to present their work, but to also bring civic initiatives and community events closer to its citizens. Let’s enjoy this summer with our city and celebrate!

Summer Live Festival
From July 8th to July 10th, the City of Vancouver has prepared a outdoor festival, full of activities, that will run from 12:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. The venue will be Brockton Point in Stanley Park, and all events will be free. The weekend’s schedule is packed with various artists, performances, and activities!
The scheduled performers include Daniel Wesley, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra conducted by Bramwell Tovey, The Zolas, Celso Machado, Said the Whale, and Dan Mangan. If you’re interested in sporting events, there is a choice of family entertainment, including a youth volleyball tournament, mini-soccer, and the classic three-legged race. The weekend will be enriched by performances and workshops by the Taiyuan Puppet Theatre Company of Taiwan, Bollywood Birthday Party by South Asian Arts dance and theatre company, and projections by Urban Visuals.
To get there, you can take a shuttle bus from Waterfront Station (downtown), running daily from 11:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. To park your bikes safely, use the bicycle compound at Brockton Point. You can also download a map of the event.

A celebration of 1,000 years of Squamish culture through the mixture of Aeriosa’s vertical choreography and Squamish canoe drum dancing might be a very interesting way to spend your afternoon. This two-day event will take place in the central branch of the Vancouver Public Library. Let’s see what this collaboration with Eagle Song Dancers will create on July 12th and 13th.

World’s First Hospital with Wings Visits Vancouver
On July 14th and 15th, the city’s anniversary programme will bring something very special. The arrival of the ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital is the opportunity to see how we contribute to save eyes in developing countries via this top-notch flying hospital. From July 14th to 17th, the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre will host a unique off-site production of the Dancing on the Edge Festival. Producers of this event promised to incorporate various forms of art, including film, photography, music, and dance, to present the history of the territory, First Nations’ heritage, and the Roundhouse itself. 11th World Harp Congress & Festival
If you like Harps, this event is one that you surely wouldn’t want to miss. From July 24th to 30th, Vancouver will host one of the biggest harpists’ gatherings. Workshops, classes, and performances will be led by the greatest Canadian and international harpists. Nine hundred participants from 40 different countries are expected to visit the 11th World Harp Congress & Festival in Vancouver. Watch out for the location, since it’ll be changing throughout the festival: St. Andrews-Wesley Church (July 24th, 25th & 30th), Orpheum Theatre (July 26th & 29th) and Vogue Theatre (July 27th & 28th).
